Jeff Schletzer began teaching at Father Ryan 26 years
ago, and previously taught four years at McEwen High School. He has played
percussion professionally for 21 years and is a member of MTSBOA,
MENC, TBA and served on the WGI Percussion Advisory Board as well as
the MTSBOA Executive Board.
Jeff is the head of the Fine Arts Department,
co-directs the Marching Band, Winter Drum Line, and helps with Jazz
Band.

Jereme Frey is in his 9th year teaching band and AP music
Theory at Father Ryan. He graduated from The University of
Tennessee with a degree in music specializing in Saxophone and
woodwind instruments. Jereme played the drumset for The University
of Tennessee Lady Vols pep band and has played both saxophone and
drumset professionally. He has served as both the Mid-State Jazz
and Tennessee State Jazz Chairperson and he is a member of MTSBOA,
MENC, TBA and has been an active clinician and guest conducter.
Jereme directs the Jazz Band and co-directs the
Marching Band.

A 1998 Ryan graduate, Derek Schletzer began working part
time with the marching band and winter drumline in 1997 and teaching
full time at Father Ryan High School in 2003. He was a
founding member of the inaugural Father Ryan Winter Drum Line who
went on to perform at the 1st WGI(World Guard International) World
Championships in 1993. Just 2 years later the Father Ryan Winter
Drum Line, where he played snare, won the WGI World championship
in their class. After Ryan, he attended Middle Tennessee State
University and participated in the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble,
Orchestra, and Percussion Ensembles. Derek was a member of the
4th place 1996 MTSU PASIC line. He played in the snare lines of Music
City Mystique in 1996 and 1999, winning another World Championship
with them in 1996. His drum corps experience was with the snare line
of the Canton Bluecoats in 1997 and 1998. Derek served on the
percussion staff at the Bluecoats in 1999.
Derek is the director of the Winter Drum Line and a co-director of the
Marching Band.

Dustin Schletzer graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with
a Bachelor?s Degree in Music Education. While at MTSU, Dustin was an active percussionist
in the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Ensemble, MTSU Marching ?Band of
Blue?, and the 2001/04 PASIC Indoor Marching Percussion Ensembles. Schletzer has been
involved with several marching percussion ensembles within Drum Corps International and
Winter Guard International. Dustin marched in the snare lines at the Santa Clara Vanguard
in 2001, 2002, and he served as section leader in 2003. Schletzer began instucting the
snare line in the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2004 where they were recipients of the Fred
Sanford High Percussion award as well as serving on the Vanguard percussion staff in
2005. Dustin has also served as the snare drum technician for the 2008, 2007 and 2006 DCI
World Champions Cavaliers. Dustin?s winter percussion involvement has included Music City
Mystique as well as the Father Ryan High School Percussion Ensemble where he has served as
a battery technician since 2002. He has also served as the percussion director for the
McGavock High School Marching band as well as working in an artistic capacity for Innovative
Percussion, Inc.
Dustin co-directs Marching Band, Winter Drum Line, and Concert Band.
